Report on Visit to Buhler India
As part of our academic curriculum in the Department of Marketing and International Business, had an opportunity to visit Buhler Group, a global leader in food processing and advanced manufacturing. The purpose of the visit was to gain firsthand exposure to industrial practices, corporate strategies, and sustainable operations in a multinational organization.
Objectives of the Visit
· To observe supply chain, operations and Client services
· To learn about Buhler’s approach to innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Bühler Group, headquartered in Uzwil, Switzerland, is a multinational company that provides process solutions for food production, advanced materials, and die casting. Operating in over 140 countries, Bühler focuses on sustainable solutions, digital innovation, and quality assurance. It serves sectors such as grain milling, rice production, chocolate manufacturing, and insect protein processing.
The visit began with a corporate briefing from Bühler’s management team. We were introduced to the company’s history, mission, global presence, and core values. Particular emphasis was placed on innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. We observed Bühler’s manufacturing processes and quality control systems. Lean management principles and process optimization were visible across production units. We learned about inventory control methods, just-in-time (JIT) practices, and the use of automation to increase efficiency. Bühler’s commitment to sustainability was evident in its energy-efficient technologies and waste reduction initiatives. The company actively works toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to food security and climate action. Bühler invests significantly in R&D and uses AI, IoT, and data analytics to drive innovation. We explored how the company integrates digital tools to improve product quality, traceability, and predictive maintenance.

The visit to Bühler Group was an insightful experience that enhanced our understanding of how management principles are implemented in a real-world, international business setting. We thank Bühler’s team for their warm hospitality and our faculty for organizing this valuable learning opportunity.
