About

The EPIC Student Club, short for Economics & Public Policy Inquiry Club, was established with the objective of fostering awareness, discussion, and practical engagement among students on key issues related to economics and public policy. The club serves as a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange, collaborative learning, and applied research in these fields.

The EPIC Club was conceptualized in 2024 to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world policy discourse. From its inception, EPIC has aimed to cultivate analytical thinking and evidence-based decision-making skills among students. The founding team recognized the growing importance of economic literacy and policy awareness for future leaders and sought to create a student-led body that could drive meaningful initiatives.

 

The club is currently guided by Faculty Coordinator: Prof. Anilkumar M. The core student members include:

·         Mahak Tomar (Batch: 2023-2025)

·         Nanda Reddy (Batch: 2023-2025)

·         Saksham (Batch: 2023-2025)

·         Anjali Keshri (Batch: 2023-2025)

·         Preetham (Batch: 2022-2024)

·         Vineeth (Batch: 2022-2024)

EPIC’s mission is to encourage students to critically analyze economic and policy issues, contribute to informed debate, and engage with practitioners in the field. Its objectives include:

·         Organizing seminars, talks, and panel discussions with industry and policy experts.

·         Conducting research-based activities and publishing student-led articles or briefs.

·         Encouraging participation in policy simulations, debates, and competitions.

Building networks with external academic and policy-oriented organizations.

Key Activities and Milestones

EPIC’s activities center on producing high-quality policy briefs, fostering academic rigor, and engaging stakeholders through collaborative events.

·         Public Policy Debate (Inter-Collegiate Competition) Hosted on 5th February 2025 as part of the Perception event, featuring 7 competing teams from various institutions.

·         Policy Brief Production Published impactful briefs, including "EPIC xAI: Public Policy Insights, Series #1 Foxconn’s Karnataka

Incentive" (March 2025). These briefs aim to provide well-researched, concise, and accessible insights on emerging policy issues.

Branding

EPIC places strong emphasis on visibility and credibility:

·         Logo Design The EPIC logo features a circular design with a gold- outlined globe and question mark, symbolizing global inquiry. A wave- like line and bold "EPIC" text in gold reflect dynamic economic and policy exploration. The blue gradient background adds trust and professionalism, aligning with the Economics C Public Policy Inquiry Club's mission.

 

Impact and Future Directions

The club has strengthened students’ critical thinking, research abilities, and communication skills. Looking ahead, EPIC plans to:

·         Increase the frequency of Policy debates.

·         Increase the frequency of policy brief publications.

·         Host thematic policy hackathons to encourage innovative solutions to real-world issues.
