About the Faculty

Dr C.N.Udaya Shankar, heads Operations and Supply Chain Management. He has 30+ years of corporate experience in Bosch and Techno CNC Pvt. Ltd.

He handles Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, TQM, World Class Manufacturing, Materials Management.

World class manufacturing and TQM are taught through simulation games, which makes students to understand the concept of Lean easily. He has been certified by Bosch as Mentor in Lean manufacturing.

M.Phil in Management from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi – 2010

Industry Trainings

  • Changed the mindset of 700+ employees of Bosch, Naganathapura plant, through training in Basics of Lean Manufacturing
  • Workshop conducted at Bosch, Naganathapura Plant and helped in step by step implementation in Lean tools like 5S, VSM/VSD, Vision etc
  • Implemented Lean Manufacturing practices at two Suppliers of Bosch Power tools division and reduced the total cost by 5% (50% savings shared with Bosch)
  • Conducted trainings on “Quality Circles and it’s benefits “to operators of Spark Plug division. Bosch limited and motivated employees to form 10 Quality Circles teams.
  • Initiated PDCA concept with TOP 5 Quality offenders and achieved ‘ZERO PPM’
  • Conducted trainings at Tata Telecom Services (PAN INDIA) on “Service Vendor Management”
  • Assessment of shortlisted candidates of Dealers of Hero Motor Corporation was conducted in all south Indian States
  • Conducted Training to Front Line Officers of Airtel on “Customer Retention”
  • Workshop conducted to Faculty Members of RV Institute of Management, Bangalore (Internal Quality Assurance Cell), on “Bench Marking” and “Use of Quality Tools to enhance the performance of Students”

Project

 

  • Supported PES Institute of Technology, as a consultant to implement Lean Manufacturing practices in 10 Small scale industries under Government of India sponsored project ( Project cost : Rs.30 Lakh)

  • Workshop conducted on “ Six Sigma “to Final year Engineering students of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering
  • TEQUIP sponsored training in “Lean Manufacturing” for M.Tech students of PESIT, Bangalore
  • Training in “Lean Manufacturing” for the faculty of PES college of Engineering, Mandya
  • Training on Quality Assurance for faculty of RV Institute of Management, Bangalore

  • Trained at Bosch China to “ Lead the BPS Plant ”and “BPS Maturity Assessment”

Achievements in Industry

  • Reduced the lead time for clearing the employee suggestions from 70 days to 2 days
  • Established first ware house for finished goods of Bosch at Yeshwanthpura , Bangalore
  • Brought in the concept of Annual ordering for computer peripherals and reduced   the lead time  for  ordering from 10 days to 1 day
  • Achieved a savings of Rs. 10 million / year with one of the prestigious project of localization in 1996
  • As a part of Ancillarisation, took the overall responsibility of selling the 28 machines to our vendors and 125 components were outsourced.

 

Awards and Recognition

  • Mentored 2 teams from Ramaiah Institute of Management to participate in National Level Convention in Dec 2022, arranged by Quality Circle Forum of India at Ghaziabad One Team secured Excellence Award and other team secured Par Excellence Award and got eligibility to participate in International Convention.
  • Participated in one of the largest Diabetes Awareness Campaign organized by Rotary club on 23.02.2017 and created record in Guinness world record.
  • Certified as “BPS Mentor” ( Mentor in Lean Manufacturing) by Bosch, Germany.
  • Won BEML trophy as “Best Supply Chain Manager” in a Competition organised by IIMM in 2004.
  • Received Appreciation for Bosch – India, from our customer M/s Hartz, Germany for having provided a low cost solution to a complex technical problem in their manufacturing process.
  • Instrumental in bringing the Power tools Division, Bosch, India from 17th position to 4th position in implementing Lean practices out of 27 Bosch Power Tool plants all over the world.
  • As a BPS co-ordinator, Played a major role fin implementing Lean Manufacturing practices in Bosch Power Tools and to secure the “Best BPS ( Lean manufacturing) Improvement Award”for Bangalore Plant in 2011
