A magnificent sports extravaganza, “The Annual Sports Day” was organized at Ramaiah Institute of Management, Bangalore on 22 and 23 March 2023. All students participated with great enthusiasm and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.
One day 1, the event was inaugurated by the director of the Institute Dr. Manasa Nagabhushanam. The inauguration was followed by the contingent march which was led by the respective team captains.
The major outdoor events like cricket (preliminary rounds), volleyball, throwball, 4 x 100 m relay and 100 meters race were held on Day 1. There were 5 teams based on sections and students of all the sections show cased true team spirit in all the games and were all well-coordinated. The finalists were to compete against each other on day 2. The events were held separately for boys and girls. There were about 200 participants from all the classes.
Day 2 was dominated by indoor sports like Table tennis, Carrom, Chess, and Badminton. There was no dearth of enthusiasm as well for the indoor events.
All the participants and teams were victorious as the players were imbued with a true team spirit. Here are the winners of some events that took place:
Ms. Harshitha S bagged the first place for badminton girls followed by Ms. Neha Shetti. The winner of badminton boys was Mr. Aditya Marve followed by Mr. Sushan Shetty.
The winners of the oldest most popular board games: Chess were Ms. Neha Shetti. (girls) and Nirmal Kumar(boys), followed by Ms. Akshaya Sabesan and Mr.Abhinav.
Section E is the winners of Volleyball, followed by Staff team. Section C bagged the first place for Throw Ball followed by Section E.
Santosh Prabhu bagged the first place in 100-meter race boys followed by Sulaiman PGPSM. Anusha Shetty on the other hand bagged the first place in the same event for girls followed by B K Sinchana.
The winners of Basketball were Section B followed by Section C.
It was an electrifying experience for the spectators of cricket on Day 2 before the indoor events took place. All the five teams played displayed great sportsmanship and it was a true pleasure to watch the athletes. The winners were Section D led by Captain Sameer Singh Koka. The runners up were Section A led by captain Kailash.
The Best Batsman award was given to Sameer Singh Koka, Best Bowler was Gyanendra, The Man of the Match for finals was Saran V Sai and Man of the Series was Sameer Singh Koka.
Section D was awarded with the Best Cheering Team award for always motivating their players. Section E also won the Overall Championship Trophy for the AY 2022-23.
The Annual Sports Day proved to be an extremely refreshing experience for the students and teachers at Ramaiah Institute of Management.
Prize distribution ceremony was scheduled on 9 March 2023. The chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony was Mr. Harish Gowda Actor, National Champion INBA (MEN’s PHYSIC 2018), Entrepreneur. This event truly showcases the commitment that all the athlete has shown towards the sports competition.
