Short Profile

Dr. Sagar M is an Associate Professor of Economics at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Management, with over 13 years of experience in academia and industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, and has qualified both UGC-NET in Economics and ICAR-NET in Agricultural Economics. In 2018, he served as a Post-Doctoral Associate at IIM Bangalore, focusing on Natural Resource Management and Agri-business Development under Prof. Gopal Naik.

Dr. Sagar’s research interests span Climate Economics, Technology Adoption, ICT in Agriculture, and Rural Development. He has presented at national and international conferences and published in reputed journals, including Mausam by the India Meteorological Department. A committed rural development practitioner, he has trained over 13,000 farmers across Karnataka and is a reviewer for academic journals and case studies. His work reflects a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture and impactful research.

Training and Consultancy

· Training in Research Methods:

· Participated in a UGC-sponsored 21-day workshop on Feminist Research Methodology from 16^th January to 6^th February 2013, organized by the Women’s Study Center, Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur. Trained in the application of SPSS analytical tools for research.

· Capacity Building for Data Collection (2016–2018):

· Conducted 22 training programs for Raitha Mitras on Methods of Data Collection from Farmers in Navalagund and Siruguppa taluks of Karnataka. These programs were jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Dharwad, and UAS Raichur.

· Farmer Training on Natural Farming (2019):

· Conducted 27 training sessions on Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) for field-level staff and farmers across Bangalore North, Bangalore South, Anekal, and Hoskote taluks of Karnataka between January and December 2019.

Resource Person

· Government Outreach and Policy Engagement (2024):

· Served as Resource Person (Agricultural Economics) at the Comprehensive Plan for Gram Panchayats and Farmers Meeting held on 6^th March 2024, organized by the Department of Agriculture, Mandya District, Karnataka.

· Public Policy Engagements (2024–2025):

· Delivered a talk as Resource Person at a seminar on the Interim Union Budget 2024 on 20^th March 2024 at Presidency University, Bengaluru.

· Participated in a Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2025 on 4^th February 2025 at Ramaiah Institute of Management Studies (RIMS), Bengaluru.

· International Workshop Speaker (2022):
