About The Faculty

Dr. Meghna Verma, with over 23 years of experience in industry, teaching, and research, has authored over 50 papers in ABDC and SJR-ranked journals. Associated with RIM since 2009, she actively undertakes research projects, including ones for GoK and serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals. She has presented her research globally at NUS, University of Bremen, TU Darmstadt, IIT Roorkee, IIM Indore, CEPT Ahmedabad and many more. Her research spans consumer behaviour in religious and sustainable tourism, transport services, crowd dynamics, AI & AR in retail, and women’s safety, aiming to promote sustainability, quality of life, and social inclusion.

Area of Research

 Dr. Meghna’s research mainly focuses on consumer behaviour in religious and sustainable tourism, social media marketing, marketing of sustainable transport services, responsible consumption, women safety, crowd behaviour in mass religious events, airport retail, conscious consumerism, application of AI & AR in retail and service sector. She continues her research exploration aimed at enhancing quality of life, promoting gender equality, social inclusion, and sustainability through a marketing lens

  •  Mission LiFE : In a global challenge by NITI Aayog LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), proposal titled “Bangalore’s Social Travel Club: Encouraging Sustainable Modes of Transport among College-going Students” was selected as one of the top 75 ideas and was published in “Thinking for our planet:75 ideas to promote LiFE” to aid the culture of sustainable, environment-conscious lifestyles across the world. Dr. Meghna Verma from RIM collaborated with IISc, Bengaluru, and Behaven, Belgium, for this proposal.
  •  Won Best PhD Thesis Award for winning the PIMR Best Ph.D. Thesis Contest in the area of Management organsied during 18th International Conference on “Transforming Management Practices and Processes for Economic Development and Societal Welfare” February 25-26, 2023
  •  Receipt of Research Grant: Dr.Meghna Verma is the recipient of Rs.11 Lakh research grant for the project titled, “Institutionalizing Gender SMART and Gender Astute Mobility.” The project duration is 6 months, from 18th October to 18th April 2022 and has been extended by another 3 months. The project is funded by Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Government of Karnataka, under ASPIRE program 2020-21 and is being carried out in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
  • Contribution to Award-winning project of DULT, GOK: Dr. Verma contributed in kind to the DULT Award-winning project, Clean Air Street testbed – Church Street First, and co-authored three chapters in the report titled, “Church Street First-Impact Assessment of Pedestrianizing an Urban Street an urban street in Terms of Quality of Life.” The detailed report on the same project can be viewed using the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JuPy38DwHWSpvhoO2IKOtsYY03AjjteL/view . She was also an adviser to DULT on social media outreach in this project.
  • Contributor to Indo-Dutch Project-Prof. Meghna Verma was one of the co-investigators in Indo –Dutch Research Project titled, “The Kumbh Mela Experiment (KME): Measuring and Understanding the dynamics of mankind’s largest crowd,” funded jointly by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India and Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), Netherlands. The project has been mentioned as one of the best-use cases of Artificial Intelligence in the country by NITI Aayog in its white paper titled, National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence’.

  • On 1st August 2016, I was invited by Directorate of Urban Land Transport as an external member of the technical committee to review the proposal submitted by M/s. IBI India Consultancy Private Limited (i.e., the Consultant) for the extension of the Communication and Outreach Program (COP) for the Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS)Project. The committee reviewed the Consultant's performance with reference to the approved COP plan.
