A.V. Arunkumar is Professor and Dean, MS Ramaiah Institute of Management Bengaluru, India. Prior to that, he was functioning as the founding faculty, Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Finance, (later known as School of Business), RV University, Bengaluru. He has over 30 years of expertise in wide-ranging functional areas that include teaching, research, academic administration, development banking, national and international banking, financial risk management and international finance. As part of the research work, he has brought out quite a few working papers, articles in journals, book chapters and books. In addition to his academic profile, has held executive roles in development, commercial and multinational banks in the core functional areas like credit, operational and enterprise risk management.

After his PhD from ISEC, Prof. Arunkumar, began his career in research by functioning as the Deputy Director at the CBPS (Centre for Budget and Policy Studies), an independent research organisation at Bengaluru. Prof. Arunkumar has been a passionate teacher and he continued his lectures in training and research institutes even during his senior executive roles in the financial sector. As a teacher and a researcher, his areas of interest include, sustainability, development and circular economy; development and sustainability, financial sector, specifically governance of banks, enterprise risk management, technology adaptation among small enterprises, public policy and MSMEs. He has been passionate about empowering the students through education and believes in quality education as a means for human resource transformation.
